Don't be intimidated to purchase a pastel. Pastels can be vibrant in their colors, and because they are kept under glass they don't collect dust on the surface of the painting like oils or acrylics. They also don't crack and darken over time and are every bit as permanent.

Pastels - like oils, acrylics and watercolors, are just pigments of colors with a binder. They can be formed into sticks, pans or pencils, but they're still bright, brilliant colors applied to a surface.

Today you can find pastels done by Loutrec, Degas and Cassatt (to name a few) that are still beautiful, colorful, and very sought after. But like anything of value you will want to take care of them, so I will send you directions that will help you enjoy your painting for generations to come.

Finally, if you're like me you will bring your new baby home and move it from wall-to-wall, and room-to-room, looking for that perfect place. No matter where it lands make sure to have some light. The painting will come to life under light, but in a dark corner,…it will look sad.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
